Set of Needle Punch 

Stocking Ornies/Bowl Fillers

This set of four needle punch stockings measure

3" x 4".  They are worked with Valdani hand

over-dyed threads on weavers cloth and

backed with wool.  

They have a hanger attached in the upper corner 

and a rusty bell, batting filled. 

The small stockings would be cute as bowl fillers too !

Primitive Reindeer Cross Stitch Pinkeep

Offered for sale is a cross stitch pinkeep measuring

4" x 6".  I stitched this on linen with cotton

threads.  

 

It is backed with dark wool and has rusty

bells stitched on the bottom.

Early Autumn Offering

Offered is a small cupboard hanger measuring 3-1/4" x 4-1/4".  It is stitched on aged linen, edge whipstitched and backed with black wool.

There is a rusty hanger with a rusty star secured to the top, lightly stuffed with wool snippets.

Batik Quilt - Adaption of Drunkards Path Pattern

I recently finished a quilted batik wall hanging measuring 60" x 48".  

This was an assortment of batik's from our local quilt shop, not a collection, just a pull of fabrics from the shelves.  

The fun part of the construction was that I used a 6" Quick Curves Template from Elisa's Backporch Designs that made the piecing so easy.  I usually avoid patterns using curves, but her template actually made it quick and well..... easy.

Rudolph - Punch Needle

This is the second reindeer I worked up this season.  The other was recently sold on Early Work Mercantile. 

Rudolph is a dimensional punch needle reindeer measuring 5" x 5-1/4".

He is worked with Valdani hand over-dyed threads and has a subtle cotton print backing. 

Rudolph has a wool scarf, rusty bell nose and twigs for antlers and legs. He stands on his own legs but I have attached a clear thread hanger for hanging if desired.

Bowl Fillers

Also offered are five bowl fillers stitched on aged linen.  They range in size from 3-1/4 X 3-1/2" to 3-3/4" x 4-1/4".  

They are filled with wool snippets for a flattened early look and have random rusty pins and bells on them.  

They are stitched with Weeks Dye Works over-dyed threads and heavily aged.  The bowl fillers are backed with a muted cotton ticking and primitively stitched closed on the bottom.

Santa Wool Mat

Offered is a decorative wool mat measuring 18-1/2" diameter.  It is hand stitched with primitive stitches on the appliques and blanket edge stitched.  The opening in the middle measures approximately 4", large enough for a chunky candle, bowl, etc.  

The appliques are overdyed 100% wool in luscious shades, the black foundation is wool felt. 

It is backed with solid black cotton for a finished look.  

The mat has a nice heft to it, the colors in it are wonderful.

Primitive Offerings

Punch Needle Stockings

Available for purchase is a group of four small punch needle stockings measuring 2-1/2" x 4" each. 

They are stitched on weavers cloth with Valdani hand over-dyed threads and backed with 100% red fulled wool.  

I have attached a rusty bell on the corner and they have a black thread hanger to hang if desired.  They are shown as bowl fillers in the above and below pictures.

Punch Needle Hornbook

This hornbook measures 7-3/4" x 7" x 3/4" and is an adaption from Notforgotten Farm.  

The stitchery is worked with conventional and Valdani hand over-dyed threads on weavers cloth and edged with black boucle. There is nice movement in the background on this piece. 

The hornbook is hand cut from reclaimed wood and has a combed finish on the front.  
I have wound rusty wire with a rusty star around the top.

Autumn Punch Needle Hornbook - SOLD

For your consideration is a punch needle hornbook measuring 7" x 5-1/2" x 3/4".  I used conventional and over dyed threads on the stitchery. 

It is mounted on an aged and sanded re-purposed wood hornbook which was cut by hand.  It is edged with black boucle.  Rusty wire and a string of old buttons completes the prim piece.

Recycling.... Upcycling...Useful Finds.....

Sometimes I'll see an object that just needs to be reused, not quite ready to be discarded .......yet.....

Here are some of my finds that I re-purposed for quirky decorative touches around our gardens and home.  


The chair I picked from our neighbor's scrap pile, he was going to burn it, yikes!  The finish has worn off over the years but it is still solid.  The basket and cute straw hat was a find from my mother-in-law's garage, the coco liner was worn out and had holes from a hanging basket.  I dug up a japanese painted fern from my perennial garden, put it in a clay pot and placed it in the liner.  

Recycled and re-purposed.

Another small child's chair I found by the roadside that was to be picked up with the trash.  The chippy paint gives it a primitive look, the old Wheeling watering can is from the 1960's.

Old enamelware kitchen pieces make a happy nest for hens and chicks.  The rectangle refrigerator bin and strainer were picked from my mother-in-law's garage, buried beneath a mountain of, well, stuff!  The strainer holes provide good drainage for the plants.   

The coco liners were old ones I had saved that are shredded and have holes in them.  

Recycled and re-purposed.

Below is a prim flag I made from old chair dowels.  The chair was also from our neighbor's to be burned scrap pile that I rescued and deconstructed.  You can see the ends on the right side of the flag that were originally placed in the chair seat.  Different dowel lengths add to the eclectic charm of this find. 

I drilled holed in each dowel, ran wire through the secured at both ends.  Screw eyes were placed on the top and I hung it on our fence.  This was made several years ago, each year a little more paint chips off.  

Recycled and re-purposed.

Although my perennials are growing quickly this year, you can still see the recycled white "fence" at the back of the garden bed.  
These two sections were originally decorative window shutters from an old shed that was to be torn down.  I painted them with white enamel outdoor paint and have them secured in the ground with pieces of bent wire hangers cut in a long U shape.  I take them in for the winter and have had them in the garden beds for many years.

This last picture is not a recycled item but I had as idea this year to add a solar light to our large urn on the front porch.  The light was only $1 from our local hardware store and looks so pretty at night glowing through the plants after soaking up the sunshine during the day.  
 

Is It Spring Yet?!

 I brought out a table topper that reminded me of spring, flowers and warmer weather.  It's a topper I made last year; won't see flowers like this in my garden for a few months!

The pic below of the Santa resins are ones I have collected over the years; they were made by a friend of mine and are pecan shell resins she painted by hand. 
The other items I stitched, sewed and painted.
